Happy New Year 2012!!!
So yeah, I did it. I registered for the Tel Aviv Marathon. All 42.2km of it.
That’s 26.2 miles just to be entirely clear. Every time I actually think about that distance, I feel like I’m going to be sick. Then I get excited too. Isn’t there a saying about something like “If your goals don’t make you a bit nauseous, then they are not big enough.” ? Well, if not I just created one. This goal is definitely big enough!
You can even go and see my name in the list of registered racers, right between Asi Segal and Micki Segal.
I have another post in the wings about where I am with my training (18km and chafing in all sorts of interesting places), but today I wanted to write about something different: PRESENTS!!!

I love your posts that have recipes and pictures! I’m a visual learner and plus everything looks delicious! More of those would be great
Thanks Pamela, that helps me a lot! I entered you in the drawing…
WOW,kol hakavod,I wish I could do the whole race too.I would love to participate in the marathon, but would have to do the shorter runs.
I have a friend who is running the 10K that same morning. Should be fun!
I would like to see you. I think you should blog about a visit to New York. We also have a marathon. Miss you!
Marianne!!! I thought you’d forgotten all about me by now. Where was my yearly Schmidt update? All the best for you in 2012, love!
Emily, I do love that you triumph eating vegetarian and (obviously) exercise if you are running a marathon. Nut how about some words about accepting the body you have and eating and exercising moderately
Thanks for the feedback Bakol. I don’t think those topics are things I can relate to though. I don’t do anything “moderately” nor am I interested in ever doing so.
I would love to win a copy of the Goddess work book-I am doing the Artist’s way and it looks like a perfect workbook to compliment the inner work I am doing.
Emily, I love all your posts as they are but if I had to ask for my own personal request it would be to do with changing old thought patterns around food…ie getting the high from feeding my body healthy food instead of sugar highs etc etc…would also love more info re sugar addiction and kicking the habit…I slip and slide with that one all the time…
Thanks Emily for all your great info-love your recipes and try them all …yum…
Thanks for being a great companion into 2012!
Warm wishes,
Gailxx
Great Gail, thanks for the suggestions! I’m working through the Artist’s Way now too. Amazing book!
Hi Emily. I think Im gonna buy the Godess Work-book anyway because it looks inspiring, but I wanted to tell you that your blogs are always great. I’ve made some good food, followed some great links and generally enjoyed hearing about your life. I’m not a runner, so that stuff is less interesting to me persoanlly. Having said that the account of your run in the Tel Aviv half-marathon was very moving.
I love all the food stuff. I’d like to be exposed to more of your food knowledge – it is such a minefield out there and there is sooo much to learn. You already are and should continue to lead us beginners through the maze of foods and food issues.
I also think there is nothing like tasting great food to give you the inspiration to cook it for yourself – so cooking classes or pot-luck dinners are something I would sign uo for.
Here’s to a successful year for you in 2012.
Thanks Nerys, that’s helpful for me. If you buy it, do so through that link in the post please. See you tonight!
