Wow. Thanks for sharing so honestly and authentically Emily. This is something so many of us do, all the time. I, for one, am always glad to be reminded to remain present and stay connected to my body. How bizaar that we can actually disconnect from our own bodies... Anyway, this was awesome to read. Best of luck to you on race day! Honor whatever will be on that day, and know you are being cheered on from the sidelines!!

I have this conversation with my trainer regularly. He thinks I should have lost about 40 pounds or something, by now. I told him "First of all, I am a slow loser in general. Secondly, I know how to lose weight, I have done it before, many times. Thirdly, I am not interested in losing weight in an unsustainable way, so if it takes even longer this time, so be it. I am not going to go doing some crazy stuff, being a victim of a clock or restrictive rules. I am seeing changes in my body, feeling differences in my strength and endurance and if I am happy with that, then you should be too".

[...] We are now 8 weeks from Marathon Tel Aviv. This journey which began 10 weeks ago, back in November, is drawing to it’s conclusion. When I started, I was able to run 8K. Now I am up to 24K, and have 26K scheduled for Friday. Back in December, I got panicked when I realized I had embarked on a 10 mile course (16K) rather than a 10K. I struggled to complete it. Today, 16K, to Sde Warburg and back, is an “easy run” (except that it’s really 13K now that I have adjusted my pedometer. Hey, at least this time I calibrated it BEFORE the race!).
I hear ya. the weather lately has been repressive, even though I know we need the rain. I got a recharge the other day when we drove up north. The first glimpse of the Hermon (white capped) from Rosh Pinna was a jolt of "wow!" - shabbat was so extraordinarily clear and crisp.
Don't forget the ginger and chilies!
